PT’s Products used in Navy’s Strategic Command and Control Aircraft, the E-6B Mercury
PT worked with Rockwell Collins to deliver an upgrade to the Navy’s E-6B Mercury aircraft. The Mercury, a Communications relay and strategic airborne command post aircraft, provides survivable, reliable and endurable airborne command, control, and communications between the National Command Authority (NCA) and U.S. strategic and non-strategic forces.
As part of the aircraft’s internal electronics upgrade through Rockwell Collins, PT’s Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) embedded CompactPCI hardware components were integrated onboard the aircraft for improved communication, control/monitor functions, and networking. Components include the company’s Intelligent Shelf Manager (ISM) that provides remote systems monitoring and diagnostics, award-winning Ethernet switches, and chassis mid-planes.
